Interval is a dance piece by Misiconi about the ‘in-between’, the period in which we live, move, adapt, and let go. It is a physical experience of transience and growth—of continuously rewriting ourselves in relation to the world around us. This performance invites you to see and feel differently. Not to grasp time, but to live it.
The stage design by Ludmila Rodrigues is conceived to welcome the public into close proximity with the performers as well as to create a landscape of diverse bodies. The materials used, felt and foam, allow for comfort and intimacy that are explored by the dancers throughout the choreography.
The interaction of color between physical material and the light design conjure a twilight-zone where seeing and feeling get blurred. Blue-purple tones suggest the cold and the evening hours, while the yellow-amber colors of the light suggest warmth and sunset-sunrise. These thermal hints are intensified when ice comes into the stage and the audience participates in the sensing by holding the ice which causes it to melt. Warmth and coldness are physically experienced while evoking emotions of closeness, loss, joy and surrender.
