A living sculpture exploring non verbal communication, the power of hand gestures, in which only the hands of the performer are seen and offered to the audience. As the relationship between the anonymous hands and the visitor evolves, this evocative body part becomes a medium of powerful expression.
The performer has little or no control over the situation, in the hopes that this partnership with the public will be based on generosity. Audience is encouraged to engage physically.
Performed in at PXL-MAD School of Art (Hasselt, March) and at ‘Do Not Disturb’, Quartair (The Hague, April) 2018.
With thanks to all participants: Astrid Waterinckx, Wesley Haex (second version, June 2018); and Naomi Moyson, Sarah Verdren, Mirthe Tibos and the support of Eva Schrooten and Sara Pena Zamorano (first version, Feb 2018).
